Langtang Valley Trek is a pleasant trip in Nepal that begins with tours of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by a drive to Syabrubesi the next day. It is known the closet trekking route from Kathmandu. The trek route begins from the lower region of the Langtang Valley through small villages, farmlands, and verdant forests to Kyangjin Gompa. We also climb Tserko Ri for excellent sunrise views over the Langtang ranges. The border is Tibet and once upon a time, it was an important trading route. We can still see the influence in the rich local culture. Furthermore, the Langtang Valley Trek’s itinerary also takes us to the ‘Langtang Village’ which was heavily affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015. Our exciting 11-day trip to Nepal concludes in Kathmandu, where it had started.
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft) When you land at the Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative of Volunteer for Nepal will greet and drop off at the hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu: sightseeing and trek preparation Introduce with the tour guide and after breakfast, we start the tour in Kathmandu City. It includes World UNESCO Heritage Site Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Boudhanath. After the sightseeing trek leader will brief about the trek and introduction with other members. Overnight in Kathmandu. Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 7-8 hours We head to Syabrubesi in the morning; It is a beautiful village, 50 miles from Kathmandu Valley. The village is the starting point for treks Langtang valley. It takes 7 to 9 hours by a public bus. Trekkers can enjoy seeing many wonderful naturals beauty throughout the journey. Overnight in Syabrubesi.
Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6 hours Having breakfast, we trek to Syabrubesi along the Langtang Khola. We go up and down simultaneously through forests. When we cross a bridge over the Langtang Khola (small river), we ascend on a steep trail and it leads to the Lama Hotel. Overnight in Lama Hotel.
Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village: 6-7 hours We go on ascending from Lama Hotel and enjoying the mountain landscape with ample waterfalls. We can see the snow cap peaks of the Langtang range. The trail continues to climb up the valley, passing nomadic livestock. We go through a devastating monastery by the April 2015 earthquake to reach the Langtang village and to Mundu. Stay in Mundu.
Day 06: Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft): 4-5 hours After breakfast, our journey begins to Kyangjin Gompa. We go through by water mills, prayer wheels, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. We get to see the largest Mani Wall in Nepal, made by the stone with prayers written on them. Then, we spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and surrounding areas with the amazing views of the mountains.
Day 07: Acclimatization- Explore Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft) 7-8 hours
We spend throughout the day exploring Tserko Ri it helps to acclimatize to the high altitude. We begin early in the morning. The trail passes through yak pastures before ascending to Tserko Ri. From the top of Tserko Ri, the sunrise view is amazing. We get back late afternoon and explore the Kyangjin Gompa monastery meanwhile we enjoy Himalaya views and nature.
Day 08: Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel: 6-7 hours
Trek begins after breakfast and retraces our steps to Lama Hotel. Today, the trek will be downhill through forests and beautiful villages and Himalaya. Stay in Lama Hotel.
Day 09: Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi: 4-5 hours
We retrace our steps back to Syabrubesi. The trek will be easier, as it will mostly involve descending. Overnight in Syabrubesi.
Day 10: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu
We eat breakfast; and back to Kathmandu. The rest of the day, we pack the luggage and souvenir shopping. Stay in Kathmandu.
Day 11: Final departure
Our trek ends today! Our representative drops off to the airport on time of flight scheduled.
